Essentials for an Emergency

Car emergency – You never know when an emergency may occur. It’s always best to be prepared for any situation that may come your way.

 

Contacts

Make sure that you have the relevant contacts stored in your phone or written down before you set off for a journey. These contacts should be emergency lines such as your  car breakdown provider. Other contacts you should have at the ready are family/friends who you would want to inform that you are in an emergency.

 

First Aid Kit

A first aid kits are really handy to have in an emergency. You never know when you will need to perform first aid on someone.

 

Tools

Having a basic tool kit in your car can be practical. A screwdriver or wrench could be useful if there is a need to use on the car to prevent a problem escalating further.

 

A flashlight is handy to have just in case you need to look in the bonnet of the car, or if you simply need a light source.

 

Map

Due to the rise in smartphones, the physical map has been abandoned. However, they are not completely obsolete. Always have a physical map in your car. Your smartphone battery will not last forever!

 

Comforts

Bottled Water – it’s best to keep hydrated to remain calm in emergency.

Snacks – you don’t know how long you will be in an emergency. High glucose level snacks are recommended to keep your energy up.

Blanket – this is especially useful in the winter when the weather is chillier. You may be in the fresh air for a long time. It’s best to keep warm so you don’t go in to shock.

 

 

Even though an emergency may never happen during your lifetime, having these items in your car will make you feel confident that you are equipped.
